Drug Uses
Zithromax is used for treating mild to moderate infections caused by certain bacteria. It may also be used alone or with other medicines to treat or prevent certain infections in persons with advanced HIV infection. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Zithromax as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Take Zithromax by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
Do not take an antacid that has aluminum or magnesium in it within 1 hour before or 2 hours after you take Zithromax.
Zithromax works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
To clear up your infection completely, use Zithromax for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Zithromax is defined as a macrolide antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of or at times killing the sensitive bacteria. It does so by lowering the production of essential proteins required by the bacteria for its survival.
Missed Dose
The missed dosage needs to be taken as soon as you remember. if you find the time for your next dosage has come prefer skipping the missed dosage followed by returning to the normal dosing plan.
Storage
Zithromax pills needs to be stored at 15 to 30 degrees C or 59 to 86 degrees F.
Ensure storing the constituted suspension between 5 to 30 degrees C or 41 to 86 degrees F. Discard the tablets on completion of your entire dosing schedule, generally within ten days. Ensure shaking well prior to each use. Oversized bottle offers shake space. Keep it in an airtight container.
Warnings Precautions
Avoid taking Zithromax if:
* You have allergies to any ingredient present in Zithromax, other macrolide antibiotics (such as, erythromycin), ketolide antibiotics (such as, telithromycin)
* You take pimozide

Certain medical conditions are likely to interact with this drug. Consult your doctor if you take any of the below mentioned medicines:
* Rifampin as it can lower the effectiveness Zithromax
* Anticoagulants (such as, warfarin), pimozide, disopyramide, digoxin, or rifampin as by taking Zithromax you are more prone to develop the side effects that comes with the former medications.
* Theophylline as the blood levels can decrease for a products_description time span after you stop taking Zithromax
