Drug Description
Arava is prescribed for decreasing signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. The medicine is also prescribed to help improve physical condition and to prevent the development of structural harm to the joints.
Intake Instruction
Arava is prescribed for taking under your doctors’ control.
You can take the medicine by mouth with meals or without it.
Please note that it may take 4 weeks or even more to fell any improvement from the treatment process Arava.
Drug Category and Mechanism
Arava represents a category of a pyrimidine synthesis inhibitor. It is predetermined to work by blocking certain enzymes liable for abnormal tissue progress or growth.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them room 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is allowed.
Please make sure to keep Arava out of the reach of children and pets.
Safety Precautions
Taking Arava is not recommended in case:
pregnant or planning to become
breast-feeding mothers
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
Crucial information:
Taking alcohol beverages while you pass treatment with Arava may make the risk of liver diseases higher. Please inform your health care provider before drinking alcohol while taking the medicine.
Avoid recipience of vaccines while passing treatment with Arava.

Arava is not advised for use in children under than 18 years old. Safety and efficacy for this age category have not been explored.
Arava can be the reason for causing damage to the fetus. Arava should not be used during pregnancy, as well as by women who plan to become pregnant except they are using trustworthy forms of birth control. A negative pregnancy test should be necessarily obtained before the very start of treatment with the medicine. Please immediately contact your health care provider in case your menstrual flow is deferred or if you have any suspects you are pregnant. After termination of therapy, women of childbearing age that plan to become pregnant should necessarily undergo a procedure to flush any residuary medicine out of the body system. It is already explored that Arava outfalls in breast milk. Please never breast-feed while taking the medicine.

back pain; bronchitis; diarrhea; giddiness; dry skin; hair loss; severe cough; difficulty in digesting food; articulation disorder; appetite loss; muscle pain; emesis; runny nose; sinus infectious disease; urinary tract infection; retching; weariness; weight loss.

severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; hard breathing; tenseness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); husking or peeling skin; wheals on the inside of eyes, nose, or mouth; thorax pain; dark urine; easy bruising/bleeding; sensation of numbness or tingling; an abnormally high body temperature; infection; muscle cramps, including leg cramps; pale skin; stomach pain; uncommon tiredness; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
