Drug Uses
Desyrel helps in treating depression. Sometimes it is taken for an anxiety disorder relief or chronic pain. It is also used for some other conditions as directed by your doctor.
How Taken
Use this medicine as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for dosing instructions.
An extra patient information sheet “Medication Guide” is attached to Desyrel. Check it carefully and reread this sheet each time you get the remedy refilled.
Take it directly after meal or light snack. Asa rule, it takes one to four weeks for Desyrel to effect. Do not refuse from using Desyrel without advising with your doctor.
Drug Class and Mechanism
This tetracyclic antidepressant is believed to highten one of the brain chemicals activity. This elevates your mood.
Missed Dose
In case a dosage is omitted, take it at once. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and follow your everyday dosing schedule. Do not take two doses of Desyrel at once. If more than one dose is omitted, start your medication from beginning and advise your pharmacist or doctor at your appointment.
Storage
Keep Desyrel at room temperature 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F). Save it away from light, heat and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Save this remedy out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Warnings Precautions
stop using Desyrel if:
you are currentlytaking GHB (sodium oxybate);
you are allergic to some Desyrel or nefazodone ingredient.
Address your health care provider or doctor as soon as possible if any of these apply to you.
Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Desyrel . Tell your pharmacist or doctor in case you have the following medical conditions:
if you are allergic to medicines, foods or some other substances;
if you have heart disease or have had a heart attack;
if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
if you are breast-feeding;
if you are planning to have surgery;
if you consume alcohol;
if you are currently using any dietary supplement, prescription/ nonprescription medicine or herbal preparation,;
if you have a history of suicidal tendencies or depression.
There are some medications interacting with Desyrel . Inform your health care provider in case you are currently taking any other medicines, especially the following ones:
Anticoagulants because of decreasing effectiveness of Desyrel.
Phenothiazines, serotonin reuptake inhibitors, carbamazepine, ginkgo biloba, HIV protease inhibitors, ethanol because some side effects may occur ( increased drowsiness, blurred vision).
Ketoconazole, nefazodone, buspirone, serotonin reuptake inhibitors, GHB (sodium oxybate), carbamazepine, digoxin, hydantoins itraconazole because the danger of their side effects may be hightened by Desyrel.
Sometimes your doctor may decide to adjust your dosage during taking Desyrel.
Possible Side Effects
Medicines may provoke certain side effects. Nevertherless, many people have no/ minor side effects. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
nervousness; sleeplessness; decreased appetite; dizziness; drowsiness; body discomfort; headache; bad coordination; muscle aches or pains; nausea; pain in stomach; stuffy nose; skin swelling; tiredness; tremors or blurred vision.
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
Severe allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); inappropriate or painful erections; seizures; breath shortness; stroke; vomiting; blood in urine; fainting; irregular heartbeat; light-headedness.
