Drug Uses
Risperdal helps to treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia . It treats irritability affected by autism. This drug may also be used for purposes other than those listed in its medication guide.
How Taken
Take the medication as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for precise dosing instructions carefully. As a rule, Risperdal is taken by mouth with food or without it. In case you have a stomach upset, it should be taken with food for reducing the irritation of stomach. Use the drug with a glass of water following the directions of your doctor. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Contact your health care provider in case you have some questions about using this medicine.

Being an atypical antipsychotic, Risperdal influences some brain substances.
Missed Dose
Take Risperdal as determined by your doctor. If you omit a dose of the medication, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up. Then go back to your usual schedule.
Storage
KeepRisperdal at temperatures of 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). products_description-term saving between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) is allowed. Keep in a hermetic and light-resistant container. Store it away from light, heat and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Save this remedy beyond the reach of children and away from pets.

Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Risperdal. Tell your pharmacist or doctor in case you have the following medical conditions:
if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
if you are breast-feeding;
if you are currently using some herbal preparation, certain dietary supplement
or prescription/nonprescription medicine;
if you are allergic to some substances (medicines, foods etc.);
if you suffer from Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, dementia, esophagus illnesses;
if you have high levels of prolactin;
if you have ever had cancer;
if you have seizures, heart and/or blood vessel problems, abnormal blood pressure;
if you have or have had liver/kidney diseases, stomach problems, bowel diseases, NMS;
if you dependent on alcohol;
if you suffer from diabetes;
if you are overweight.
There are some medications interacting with Risperdal. Inform your health care provider in case you are currently taking any other medicines, especially the following ones:
SSRIs or clozapine may highten the danger of Risperdal 's side effects.
Effectiveness of Risperdal may be decreased by phenytoin, rifampin carbamazepine, phenobarbital.
While taking alpha-inhibitors fainting and low blood pressure may take place.
Anticholinergics may highten the danger of overheating.
Risperal lowers effectiveness of levedopa, dopamine receptor agonists.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
insomnia; dizziness; gas; headache constipation; diarrhea; heartburn; nausea; upset stomach. trouble sleeping.
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
serious allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); feet/legs swelling; rapid gain of weight/ weight loss; weakness; fever; body discomfort; headache; loss of appetite; dizziness; high eye pressure; pain in joint/muscle; sore throat; nausea; changed stools; menstrual periods changes; convulsions; depression; diarrhea; vomiting; depression.
More Information
Risperdal should be taken only by those patients for whom it is prescribed. You should not give it to others.
If your symptoms become worse and do not improve, contact your doctor.
