Drug Uses
Remeron is very helpful in treatment of depression. This medication may also be used for purposes other than those listed in its medication guide.
How Taken
Take the medication as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for precise dosing instructions carefully.
Take Remeron in the evening before bedtime unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
As a rule, Remeron is taken in the evening befire you go to bed. Use it by mouth with/without food. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Contact your health care provider in case you have some questions about using Remeron.
Drug Class and Mechanism
This medication belongs to tetracyclic antidepressants. It is believed to activate definite chemicals in the brain, which improve your mood.
Missed Dose
Take this medicine as determined by your doctor. If you omit a dose of Remeron, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up. Then go back to your usual schedule.
Storage
Keep this medication at room temperature, between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep in a hermetic and light-resistant container. Store it away from light, heat and moisture. Save Remeron beyond the reach of children.
Warnings Precautions
You must not use this medicine if:
you have allergies to its ingredients;
you are taking furazolidone ;
you are currently using/have recently used MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors).
Contact your health care provider/doctor immediately in case some of these apply to you.
Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Desyrel. Tell your pharmacist or doctor in case you have the following medical conditions:
if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
if if you are breast-feeding;
if you are allergic to some substances (medicines, foods etc.);
if you have liver or kidney disease;
if you are currently using some herbal preparation, certain dietary supplement
or prescription/nonprescription medicine;
There are some medications interacting with remeron . Inform your health care provider in case you are currently taking any other medicines, especially the following ones:
Fluvoxamine may increase the danger of side effects of Remeron.
Clonidine is able to lower positive effects of Remeron.
Hydantoins may lower positive effects of Remeron.
Taking of fluvoxamine, MAOIs or furazolidone simultaneously with Remeron may result in various side effects.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
skin numbness; dizziness; confusion; headache; insomnia; nervousness; upset of stomach; weakness; anxiety; low sexual ability;tiredness; diarrhea; increased sweating; loss of appetite; mood changes; nausea.
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
vomiting; depression (worsening or new); serious allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); headache; loss of appetite; dizziness; high eye pressure; pain in joint/muscle; sore throat; nausea; changed stools; menstrual periods changes; convulsions; feet/legs swelling; rapid gain of weight/ weight loss; weakness; fever; body discomfort; depression; diarrhea etc.
