Drug Uses
This medicine helps to control vomiting or severe nausea and treat schizophrenia. It is also used for a four weeks healing of generalized nonpsychotic anxiety. Sometimes it is used for other conditions as prescribed by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Compazine as determined by your doctor. Check the medicine characterization for exact dosage instructions.
Take it by mouth with/without food. Take Compazine with food for reducing stomach irritation in case stomach upset take place.
Drug Class and Mechanism
This medication is a phenothiazine. It blocks a dopamine in the brain.
Missed Dose
On condition that you miss a dosage of Compazine, skip the omitted dose and go back to your everyday dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
Storage

Warnings Precautions
Do not use Compazine if:
you have serious central nervous system depression;
you are allergic to some ingredient of Compazine;
you are taking terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride.
Call your health care provider or doctor as soon as any of these apply to you.
Some medical conditions interact with this remedy . Inform your pharmacist or doctor if you have some medical conditions, especially the following ones:
if you have allergies to medicines or foods;
if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
if you are breast-feeding;
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine;
if you are taking herbal preparation or dietary supplement;
if you have a history of heart disease, central nervous system depression neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, Parkinson disease, a predisposition to glaucoma, Reye syndrome, problems with prostate, or seizures, or you have alcoholism, blood problems, liver problems, low blood pressure or increased pressure in the eye.
Some medications interact with Compazine . Inform your health care provider in case you are taking some medicines, especially some of the following ones:
Anticholinergics, lithium because they lower Compazine 's effectiveness;
ACE inhibitors, terfenadine, tramadol, anticholinergics ,astemizole, cisapride, dofetilide, haloperidol, hydantoins methyldopa, metrizamide, naltrexone, polypeptide antibiotics serotonin receptor antagonist antiemetics, trazodone, tricyclic antidepressants. Compazyne may increase the danger of their side effects;
Guanethidine, levodopa, bromocriptine, pergolide. Their effecientness may be lowered by Compazine;
Lithium because of its unexpected toxic effects;
ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitors, anticholinergics, general anesthetics haloperidol, methyldopa, or tricyclic antidepressants by reason of the increased risk of side effects.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor in case some of these side effects become bothersome or persist:
rowsiness; nasal congestion; sleeplessness; blurred vision; chills; constipation.
Ask for medical attention promptly when any of these serious side effects happen:
severe allergic reactions (tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth or face); rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; altered mental abilities, changes in breasts; changes in period of menstruation; changes in vision; difficulty swallowing; drooling; sweating; fever; increased body heat; unusual eye movements; weakness of arms or legs; yellowing of the skin or eyes; involuntary movements of tongue, face, mouth, or jaw; irregular heartbeat; muscle stiffness; muscle spasms of face, neck, or back; prolonged or painful erection; restlessness; rigid muscles; shuffling walk; legs tension; tremors; twisting movements.
