Ethionamide
Drug Uses
This remedy helps to treat TB ( tuberculosis) infections. Usually it is combined with ome other medications. Ethionamide may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
How Taken
Take the medication as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for precise dosing instructions carefully.
As a rule, Ethionamide is taken by mouth with food or without it. In case you have a stomach upset, it should be taken with food for reducing the irritation of stomach. Use the drug with a glass of water following the directions of your doctor.

Drug Class and Mechanism
Being an antibacterial agent, this medication inhibs or stopping the tuberculosis cells growth.
Missed Dose
In case you omit a dose of Ethionamide, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up.
Storage
Store Ethionamide at room temperature, between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep in a hermetic and light-resistant container. Save it away from light, heat, moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Store this remedy out of the reach of children and pets.
Warnings Precautions
You should not take Ethionamide in the fpllowing cases:
you have allergies to its ingredient;
you have liver problems.

Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Desyrel . Tell your pharmacist or doctor in case you have the following medical conditions:
you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
you are breast-feeding;
you are currently using some herbal preparation, certain dietary supplement
or prescription/nonprescription medicine,
you are allergic to some substances (medicines, foods etc.)
you have diabetes;
you have vision or liver problems.
Sometimes certain medications may influence Ethionamide’s effects. Anyway, no specific interactions with Ethionamide are unknown till now.
Possible Side Effects
Medicines may provoke certain side effects. Nevertherless, many people have no/ minor side effects. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
appetite loss; sore mouth; headache; dizziness; activated salivation; nausea; pain in stomach; vomiting; rapid weight loss; diarrhea; drowsiness.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
serious allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); smell sense changes; low blood sugar; hands/ feet tingling; problems with vision); depression; bleeding; eyes/ skin yellowing.
