Drug Uses
Clozaril helps to manage schizophrenia in patients who are not responding to other medications. It is taken for decreasing the risk of suicidal behavior in some patients. Sometimes Clozaril is used for other conditions as prescribed by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Clozaril as prescribed by your doctor.
It may be taken with/without food. Use with food to decrease stomach irritation if you suffer stomach upset.
Stick to taking Clozaril even if you feel better. Do not omit any dosages.
Using Clozaril at the same time each day will help you not to forget to take it.
Do not stop taking it abruptly without checking with your doctor.
If you have some questions about using the remedy, ask your health care provider about it.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Clozaril is not typical antipsychotic. It may affect some chemicals in your brain. This effects behavior or thinking.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose of the medicine, take it without hesitation. On condition that it is almost time for your next dosage, just skip the omitted dose and go back to your usual schedule of dosing. Do not take two dosages at once.
If you miss touse Clozaril for more than two days do not take it afresh. Contact your doctor for future directions.
Storage
Save Clozaril at room temperature, between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F) away from light, heat, moisture. Storing in the bathroom is prohibited. Store it in a hermetic container away from pets and out of the reach of children.
Warnings Precautions
Do not use Clozaril if:
you have allergia to any ingredient in it;
you have blood cell problems, bone marrow problems, blood problems caused by this remedy;
you are taking other medicines causing blood problems;
you have uncontrolled seizures or loss of bowel muscle movement.
Get in touch with your doctor provided you are unsure if any of your medicines may cause blood problems.
Speak to your health care provider or doctor directly if any of these apply to you.
Sometimes some medical conditions interact with Clozaril . Tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you have any medical conditions. You must do it on condition that any of the following apply to you:
if you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances;
if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
if you are breast-feeding;
if you are taking any prescription /nonprescription medicine or dietary supplement;
if you have a history of blood problems, lung or breathing problems , high blood; cholesterol levels or problems with your heart;
if you have an enlarged prostate; prolonged and painful erections; seizures; kidney or liver problems; glaucoma; bowel or stomach problems; dementia;
if your health is poor;
if you have diabetes;
if you are very overweight;
if you have lowered activity of enzymes metabolizing some medicines.
Possible Side Effects
Make sure with your doctor whether any of these common side effects occur:
Dizziness; drowsiness; nausea; strange dreams; trouble sleeping; weight gain; headache; heartburn; increased sweating; lightheadedness.
Ask for medical attention instantly if any of these severe side effects happen:
severe allergic reactions (swelling of the fac; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest); agitation; chest pain; confusion; dark urine; thirst, or urination; infection; involuntary movements of the tongue, face, mouth, or jaw; loss of appetite; rapid breathing; restlessness; seizures; severe headache, dizziness, or vomiting; severe or persistent nausea or constipation; severe stomach pain; vision changes; vomiting; yellowing of the skin or eyes; shortness of breath; stiff muscles; sudden, unusual weight gain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; tremor; trouble swallowing; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; increased hunger uncontrolled muscle movements; unusual mental or mood changes; unusual tiredness.
More Information
Clozaril should be taken only by the patient for whom it is recommended. It should not be given to other people.
Advice with your doctor provided your symptoms do not improve or become worse.
